Feed an African Child Is Now a 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Nonprofit

FAC's tax exempt status

We’re excited to announce a major milestone:

Feed an African Child (FAC) is now officially recognized as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization in the United States.

This achievement strengthens our mission to provide literacy, education, and development opportunities to underserved children across Africa, starting with Nigeria.

What Is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit and Why It Matters

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt charitable organization.

This means:

  • Donations are now tax-deductible for supporters

  • FAC can receive grants from foundations and institutions

  • We can build partnerships with corporate sponsors

  • Our organization operates with increased credibility and transparency

This milestone positions FAC for long-term sustainability and growth.

Our Impact So Far: Changing Lives Through Literacy

In 2025, Feed an African Child implemented literacy programs in Nigeria that helped:

  • 26 children learn to read

  • Improve confidence and classroom participation

  • Provide access to structured reading programs and materials

For many of these children, learning to read is the first step toward breaking the cycle of poverty.

The Need: Why Literacy Matters in Africa

Millions of children across Africa lack access to basic reading skills. Without literacy:

  • Academic progress becomes difficult

  • Employment opportunities are limited

  • Long-term economic mobility is reduced

At FAC, we believe that literacy is the foundation for a better future.

What This Means for the Future of FAC

With our new 501(c)(3) status, Feed an African Child is now positioned to:

  • Expand literacy programs to more communities

  • Reach our goal of 1,000 children per year

  • Build a permanent literacy and learning center

  • Strengthen global partnerships and donor support

This is just the beginning of a much larger impact.

How You Can Support Our Mission

Now that donations are tax-deductible, your support can go even further.

Every contribution helps a child gain the ability to read—and the chance to succeed.

Thank You to Our Supporters

We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors and supporters, including:

  • Microbial Discovery Group

  • Mike King

Your support has made this milestone possible.

Becoming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit marks a new chapter for Feed an African Child.

With stronger structure, growing impact, and expanding opportunities, we are ready to reach more children and change more lives through literacy.

Together, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to read, learn, and thrive.
